ST. JOHN, VIRGIN ISLAND- SEPTEMBER 24, 2017: A car is pushed nearly over a ledge at what used to be the site of Chateau Bordeau, a popular restaurant with views after Hurricane Maria and Irma's passing.

ST. JOHN, VIRGIN ISLAND- SEPTEMBER 24, 2017: Rose Maunder, carries her 8-month-old son, Jace while walking onto a boat to help her husband, Mark Maunder, retrieve items from their boat. The Maunder's have a boat that has been stuck between two other boats ashore in Coral Bay and they wanted to get their fuel cans as fuel has started to become a scarcity on the island.

ST. JOHN, VIRGIN ISLAND- SEPTEMBER 24, 2017: In Coral Bay, Stephen Flowers pushes his kayak into the water so he can get to his boat and retrieve fuel cans after hurricane Maria and Irma. Fuel remains one of the biggest concerns for Islanders who fear that between Puerto Rico, the other Virgin Islands and Florida, they will be forgotten about and lose their energy sources.

ST. JOHN, VIRGIN ISLAND- SEPTEMBER 25, 2017: A woman boards the ferry to St.Thomas. After hurricanes Maria and Irma, many people who were unable to get out before or who have had their homes destroyed are traveling to St. Thomas which has a bigger transportation hub including a commercial airport which is scheduled to re-open later in the week.

ST. JOHN, VIRGIN ISLAND- SEPTEMBER 24, 2017: Red Cross workers stop into Calabash Market in Coral Bay to deliver meals to anyone they can find who wants one. After hurricanes Maria and Irma finding fresh food has been a challenge for some.

ST. JOHN, VIRGIN ISLAND- SEPTEMBER 25, 2017: Ned Lutz shows burn marks he sustained from a downed electrical wire after Hurricane Maria passed. Lutz had survived the hurricanes but his vehicle did not. He was riding in the back of a friend's pick up truck from Cruz Bay to his home when they went over a bump and Lutz was picked up by the throat and slammed into the bed of the pickup truck. In addition to the burns on his neck he also injured his leg and is using. crutch to get around.

ST. THOMAS, VIRGIN ISLAND- SEPTEMBER 23, 2017: A plane pushed into a ditch remains on the runway on the Island of St. Thomas, part of the US Virgin Islands. The Islands are in recovery after getting hit hard by both hurricane Maria and Irma.

ST. THOMAS, VIRGIN ISLAND- SEPTEMBER 25, 2017: Kimmeiqua Mahoney looks out from where there once was a wall. She is due to have a baby girl in two weeks and is planning on returning to her apartment which is across the hall from this one where the walls were blown out. Without electricity or running water, she and her neighbors, the Franklins, have been collecting rain water to bathe in and flush toilets with. The two families hope that the dumpster which fell into the ditch outside their apartment will soon be picked up as it attracts bees and other insects which go after their children.

ST. THOMAS, VIRGIN ISLAND- SEPTEMBER 25, 2017: Rickie Donastorg takes a sledgehammer to his walls in an effort to begin to clean up and rebuild his home. A retired corrections officer, Donsatorg lost his roof and most of his home in Hurricane Maria. "I'm glad my mother wasn't here to see this," Rickie says, "She died August 7th, right before the storms." Rickie's mother lived with him in the home and he fears she wouldn't have survived the storms had she been alive.
