BRATTLEBORRO, VERMONT– JUNE 20, 2020: Nik Rowley works on a weedwacker outside of his friend's home. Rowley got out of the hospital, was asked to leave a soberliving house for having an ammunition clip on him and was put into government assisted hotels during the pandemic. Inside of the hotel is where Rowley relapsed with alcohol for a two day bender. He is grateful to now be staying with friends at their home under the condition that he stays sober and helps them with work around the house.

During the covid related shut downs, Project CARES was unable to check in on people, even though overdoses in the community were skyrocketing.
